Our Story
Glow Church began in a living room in Newton Aycliffe in 1967, when a small group of families gathered to pray, share life and believe that God could do something significant in County Durham.
​
From those simple beginnings, the church has grown and changed through the generations, but the heart remains the same: people finding faith, building genuine relationships and making a difference in the world around them. Today, Glow is home to people of different ages, backgrounds and stories, united by a shared faith in Jesus and a belief that the local church can bring hope and light to its community.
Glow is a locally led Christian church and UK-registered charity based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. We are part of Assemblies of God Great Britain and connected with churches and Christian organisations both nationally and internationally.
Our 4.2-acre campus is alive throughout the week. Alongside our Sunday services, it is home to Glow Nursery, Glow Coffee and our venue and event spaces, as well as groups, ministries and activities serving people across our community.

Why We Exist
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” That picture shapes the kind of church we want to be.
Glow exists to help people know Jesus, grow in faith and live with purpose, not only on Sundays, but in everyday life. We believe faith belongs around dinner tables, on school runs, in workplaces and communities. The ordinary places where we spend our lives are often where following Jesus matters most.

We want to be a church where individuals and families can put down roots, build strong relationships and grow together. A church that builds faith, develops leaders, lives generously and invests in the next generation. We want people to discover their God-given purpose, use what God has placed in their hands and bring the light and hope of Jesus wherever life takes them.
At the centre of it all is Jesus. His life, death and resurrection are the good news we build our lives on, that through Him we can know God, be forgiven, find new life and have hope for the future.

What We Believe
Our beliefs are rooted in the Bible and centred on Jesus. They shape what we teach, how we live and the kind of church we are becoming.

Glow Church is part of the wider Christian Church and values relationship and partnership with churches locally, nationally and beyond. We are affiliated with Assemblies of God Great Britain, the Evangelical Alliance and Churches Together, sharing a commitment to the historic Christian faith and working alongside others to see people and communities flourish.
the bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, trustworthy and true, and our ultimate authority for what we believe and how we live.

God — Father, Son & Holy Spirit
We believe in one true and eternal God, Creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is loving, holy, all-powerful and worthy of our worship.

Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven and will return again in power and glory.

Humanity & Sin
We believe every person is created by God, made in His image and deeply valued by Him. Humanity was created for relationship with God, but sin has separated us from Him and cannot be overcome through our own efforts.

salvation
We believe salvation is found through Jesus Christ alone. It is God's gift of grace, not something we can earn. Everyone who turns to Jesus in repentance and faith can receive forgiveness, new life and eternal life with God.

the holy spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active today. He brings new life, lives within every believer and helps us become more like Jesus. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, empowering believers to live for Jesus, serve others and participate boldly in His mission.

the gifts of the holy spirit
We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for the Church today. God gives spiritual gifts to His people to serve others, strengthen the Church and demonstrate His grace and power.

the church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, made up of everyone who belongs to Jesus. The Church exists to worship God, build believers, care for people and share the good news of Jesus with the world. Every follower of Jesus has a place to belong and a part to play.

living like jesus
We believe following Jesus transforms how we live. Through God's Word and the work of the Holy Spirit, we are called to grow in holiness, love God and others, live generously, serve faithfully and become more like Jesus in every area of everyday life.

water baptism & communion
We believe followers of Jesus should be baptised by full immersion in water as a public declaration of their faith in Christ. We regularly share Communion together, remembering and celebrating Jesus' death and resurrection and all He has accomplished for us.

healing & the miraculous
We believe God is alive and active today. We believe in prayer, divine healing and the miraculous power of God. We pray with faith, believing God can intervene, while trusting His wisdom and faithfulness in every circumstance.

the return of jesus & eternity
We believe Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people, eternal life with God for those who belong to Christ, and final judgement and eternal separation from God for those who reject Him. Our hope in Jesus gives us confidence for both this life and eternity.
