Our Story
Leading people to know Jesus
and building lives that last

It all started in a living room in Newton Aycliffe back in 1967 — a few families gathering to pray, share meals, and dream about what God might do in County Durham. From those small beginnings, the church has grown into a home where faith, family, and community come together every day of the week.
We are a locally led Christian church, legally registered as a UK charity, and part of the Assemblies of God Great Britain (AoG GB) — a national network of Pentecostal churches committed to bringing faith and hope to communities across the country.
Our campus is home to Little Cubs Nursery, Trio Coffee Shop, and our venue hire facilities — all owned and operated by the church — alongside a growing community of people who come together each week to worship, grow, and make a difference.
Whether you’re exploring faith or looking for a church to call home, plan a visit this Sunday — you’ll be warmly welcomed.
Our Why
Leading people to know Jesus
and building lives that last
These three words capture who we are, shaping how we think, lead, and build, and setting the tone for how people experience Glow. Our culture isn’t accidental; it’s chosen, protected, and modelled in everything we do, influencing our teams, strengthening our relationships, and shaping the atmosphere of our church.
Faith
At Glow, everything we build is on Jesus — our foundation, our example, and the centre of all we do. We pray first, act with conviction, and depend fully on the Holy Spirit’s leading, carrying a confidence rooted not in hype or emotion, but in steady trust in God’s character and promises. Faith is our posture; it shapes how we speak, lead, and respond under pressure, choosing courage over fear and clarity over doubt. Our faith isn’t loud or showy, it’s calm, resolute, and unshakable, shaping our expectations, strengthening our presence, and guiding us in every step forward.
Family
At Glow, we build people, not crowds. It starts in our own homes, because strong churches grow from strong families, healthy relationships, and genuine connection. Church isn’t something we attend, it’s a place we belong, where every conversation and gathering carries the warmth of home. We set the tone by choosing unity over ego, honour over indifference, and belonging over distance, leading with humility, care, and trust. And if the culture ever feels cold or disconnected, we take responsibility to restore it quickly, because building people will always be at the heart of who we are.
Future
At Glow, we build for what lasts, thinking generationally as we raise leaders, shape culture, and invest in a future bigger than ourselves. We’re not driven by short-term impact but by long-term fruit, choosing to stretch, grow, and innovate rather than coast on past success. We hold creativity and truth together, staying teachable, forward-thinking, and bold, while anchored in what is timeless and unshakable. With a deep sense of stewardship, we build today with tomorrow in mind, carrying responsibility for the next generation and the Church yet to come.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
— Matthew 5:14 – 16 (NIV)
