Baptism isn't about joining a church or earning God's approval. It's about publicly identifying yourself as a follower of Jesus.

We are baptised because:

  • Jesus was baptised

  • Jesus commanded it

  • It demonstrates our faith publicly

  • It marks a new season of discipleship

"Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved..."
Mark 16:16

Why Be Baptised?

Baptism is a Foundation
Baptism is one of the foundational steps of the Christian life. It doesn't save us, but it demonstrates our commitment to Christ.

Baptism Symbolises Death and Resurrection
Going under the water represents the death and burial of the old life. Rising from the water represents new life in Christ.

Baptism is an outward declaration of an inward transformation.

"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation."
2 Corinthians 5:17

What Does Baptism Mean?

Baptism is for people who have personally chosen to follow Jesus. We baptise believers who understand the decision they are making and want to publicly declare their faith.

At Glow:

  • We baptise teenagers and adults

  • We  baptise from school year 7 upwards

  • Parental permission may also be required

  • Candidates must have made a personal decision to follow Jesus

"Those who accepted his message were baptised."
Acts 2:41

Who Should Be Baptised?

We practise baptism by full immersion in water. This follows the example of Jesus and the pattern seen throughout the New Testament.

The word "baptise" comes from the Greek word baptizo, meaning "to immerse."

"As soon as Jesus was baptised, he went up out of the water."
Matthew 3:16

What Should I Bring?

Does baptism save me?

No. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Can I be baptised if I was christened as a baby?

Yes. A christening is different from believer's baptism. Baptism follows a personal decision to follow Jesus.

Can family and friends attend?

Absolutely. We encourage you to invite them.

Will I have to speak?

You'll be invited to briefly share why you're being baptised, but our team will help you prepare.

What if I'm nervous?

Almost everyone is. Our team will support you throughout the process.
